Qionglong Mountain Scenery Precinct has rich natural resources. Walking up the mountain, the views change with your steps: green pine trees, bamboos and fountains. The environment is very clear and quiet. The provincial reservation of Maopengwu, which covers 612 acres, is a natural museum of plants. There are precious trees like Fortunearia, Brachystachym Densiflorum and Phoebe Sheareri (Hemsl.) Gamble, and 151 already discovered herbal medicines like Largehead Atractylodes Rhizome, Panax Notoginseng, Radix Codonopsis Pilosulae, Ganoderma Lucidum and Polygonum multiflorum Thunb, etc. The Scenery Precinct is also the biggest ‘natural oxygen bar’ of Suzhou area. The forest provides abundant oxygen, and the ion content is 20,000 per cubic meter, which is 400 to 500 times than that of ordinary spaces.

       Qionglong Mountain Scenery Precinct has a long history of politics, military, religion and culture, which make it a cultural resource as well. The great military strategist Sun Tzu had his retreat life here and wrote the first militant book Art of War in Chinese history; The emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty visited the mountain six times and left behind many interesting stories; The minister Zhu Maichen of West Han Dynasty lived here by chopping the firewood and studying; The famous general Han Shizhong who fought against invading Jin army also gathered his subordinates here to appreciate the nights felt with moonshines. There is a driveway of 12km long, which curves up to the top of the mountain and goes across to every site. The famous sites are: Sun Tzu Garden, Zhu Maichen’s Study Stage, Lake-view Park, Shangzhen Taoist Temple, Ningbang Temple and Moon-play Stage, etc.

       Qionglong Mountain Scenery Precinct is a major project upon the plan of ‘Beautification of the Taihu Lake and the mountains around, and to build up the new city of Wuzhong’. With the concerns and supports of the District Committee and the District Government, and the efforts made by Wuzhong Tourism Development Company together with other parties, the appearance of the Scenery Precinct is undergoing huge changes. The development from now on will be concentrated on the construction of amenities, more reasonable arrangements of food and lodging, transportation, sightseeing, shopping and entertainment in the precinct, and the further exploration and expansion of the culture. We believe that, with a profound planning, the Qionglong Mountain Scenery Precinct will base on the natural resource, advocate the Sun Tzu culture supplemented with religious, imperious and entertaining cultures, and finally become the most famous and worshipped mountain in Taihu Lake area.
